RALEIGH — Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard has announced that an anonymous donor is financially sponsoring a team of Campbell Law student advocates that will compete at the 34th annual 2019 Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition on March 28-29 in Brooklyn, New York.
The team includes third-year students Joonu-Noel Coste and Taylor McCallman. The team is coached by Professor Zac Bolitho.
“Our sponsors have financially paved the way for our student advocates, and we are blessed to enjoy our relationship with them,” Leonard said. “Their gift provides the opportunity for our students to learn, get competitive experience and show the rest of the country how our first-class advocacy program is molding the future leading attorneys of tomorrow. We are in debt to them for their generosity.”
The Dean Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition is named in honor of the late Jerome Prince, renowned evidence scholar, teacher, and author of Prince on Evidence, who served as Dean of Brooklyn Law School from 1953 to 1971. The competition is hosted in the spring by the Moot Court Honor Society on Brooklyn Law School’s campus in the heart of Brooklyn Heights. The Competition provides law students from across the nation the opportunity to write and argue an appellate brief that addresses evidentiary issues in a contemporary context.
Teams advancing to the final round will argue before a distinguished panel of three outstanding jurists: Justice John Cannon Few of the Supreme Court of South Carolina; the Honorable Michael J. Garcia of the New York State Court of Appeals; and Magistrate Judge Cheryl L. Pollak of the United States District Court Eastern District of New York.
