BUIES CREEK – Aside from their own residence halls, Campbell University students tend to spend most of their time during college at Wiggins Memorial Library.
With that in mind, library officials improved the aesthetics within its walls over the winter break with the addition of art, designed to add more color to the students’ “home away from home.”
“The artwork is thematic and flows throughout the building. It provides visual interest at strategic places in the common study areas and corridors,” said Dr. John Roberson, vice president for enrollment management and assistant to the president. “There is every reason to believe the students will find the art engaging, leading them to reflect on the colors, shapes and intentions of the artists.”
The new artwork is spread throughout all three levels of the Wiggins Memorial Library, and the color and design was chosen to accent the building’s existing furniture, according to Boree Kwok, dean of the library.
“I’m really excited that the students have noticed the change,” Kwok said. “Students sit here for hours on end studying and reading. Hopefully the art will provide a comforting feeling and some inspiration for new ideas.”
