Buies Creek, N.C. – James E. Witherspoon, Jr., Director of the Master of Trust and Wealth Management program and chair of the Financial Planning and Accounting Department, has been recognized as the distinguished faculty member for excellence in teaching by Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. Witherspoon was presented the award in April.
A native of Wadesboro, N.C., Witherspoon holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Trust Management from Campbell University and a law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. He joined the School of Business faculty in 1983 as assistant professor of trust and has taught undergraduate business law courses, trust and wealth management courses and graduate courses in the Master of Trust and Wealth Management program since that time.
Affectionately known as “Spoon” by his students, Witherspoon has become a lifelong friend to many graduates. His guidance and wise counsel have always made him a person graduates seek out when faced with difficult decisions such as career changes, according to Dr. Ben Hawkins, dean of the School of Business.
“Campbell University and the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business take great pride in recognizing James Witherspoon for his excellence as a teacher and for his many contributions to the Business School,” Hawkins said.
