Campbell University Divinity School Dean Dr. Andrew Wakefield was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Charles B. Keesee Educational Fund, Inc., the organization announced recently.
The Keesee Fund, founded in 1941, provides grants to students living in North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. Grant recipients must attend divinity schools or seminaries associated with the Southern Baptist Convention or the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
Wakefield, who also teaches courses in New Testament, Greek and pastoral ministry at Campbell, said he is “honored and humbled” to be elected to serve on the board.
“The Keesee Fund has been an invaluable blessing to Campbell University Divinity School,” Wakefield said, “making it possible for many students to pursue graduate theological education without incurring educational debt even at the doctoral level.”
For the 2021 – 22 school year, Keesee Fund trustees awarded grants totaling more than $2.3 million to 476 students in the region. In addition to the grants awarded, the trustees allocated $407,500 in scholarships to universities and military academies.
Campbell University Divinity School has been supported by the Keesee Fund since 2005.
