Campbell to be collection site for Operation Christmas Child

Buies Creek, N.C.—Campbell University will serve as a collection site for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse ministry which provides gifts packed in shoe boxes to children throughout the world. Campbell is one of only three locations in Harnett County to serve as a collection site.

The shoe boxes, filled with small toys such as dolls, cars and stuffed animals, school supplies, hygiene items and other items such as candy, clothing or toy jewelry, will be transported to Charlotte for distribution all over the world.

“This is our first year as a collection site, but Campbell students, faculty and staff have filled shoe boxes for years,” said Campus Minister Faithe Beam. “The shoe box gifts are used to share the love of Christ and the joy of Christmas with children everywhere, and we have the opportunity to be a part of this powerful ministry.”

The collection week is Nov. 15-22 and will be held in the Rumley Center. Receiving hours are 11 a.m. –1 p.m. and 4 p.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday; 1 p.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday; and 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22.
