Teaching Fellows Seminar welcomes N.C. Teacher of the Year

Buies Creek, N.C.—The 2010-2011 North Carolina Teacher of the Year, Jennifer Facciolini, will speak at Campbell University’s N.C. Teaching Fellows Leadership seminar on Monday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. in Taylor Hall, Room 118.

A Teaching Fellow herself, Facciolini graduated from Meredith College and taught secondary social studies in the Wake County Public Schools for eight years. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and recently completed her fourth year of teaching at her alma mater, Midway High School in Sampson County. In presenting the award this spring, State Superintendent June Atkinson described Facciolini as a “wonderful example” of the exceptional teachers leading public school classrooms across the state in that Facciolini makes her subject relevant to students so they can connect with events and people.

Facciolini is involved in many aspects of student life at Midway. She has served as chair of the School Improvement Team, mentored beginning teachers and advised the Key Club. She has also served as an English instructor with the Meredith College Global Education Initiative program. She was named both Midway High School and the Sampson County Schools’ Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010.

Those who plan to attend should confirm their reservations by calling Debbie Temple, Teaching Fellows Office, 910.893.1704.
