Buies Creek, N.C. — Campbell University’s annual choral concert, Christmas at Campbell, is set for Monday, Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. in Turner Auditorium. The concert will feature both sacred and secular music and will showcase a variety of choral talent. The University Choir will anchor the program and will be joined by two other vocal ensembles–The Campbell Voices and The Campbell Children’s Choir–for a presentation designed to put the audience into the spirit of Advent and Christmas. Admission is free and open to the public.”The Christmas at Campbell audience will enjoy music that is sacred and secular, serious and light, together in the same program,” said Campbell Choral Director Dr. Phillip Morrow. “We like to think of the Christmas concert as the kick-off to the Christmas season, as our gift to the community.”Starting with a traditional South African choral introduction, the program features sacred hymns and carols, traditional Irish music, instrumental meditations and scripture. Popular sounds of the season are also part of the musical medley, including songs like “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “White Christmas,” and “Mary, Did You Know.” The Nativity carols, “Away in a Manger and Silent Night, Holy Night,” round out the evening’s repertoire. They are followed by the resounding “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah.”The concert is dedicated to long-time Campbell friends and supporters, William “Ed” and Sadie Patterson Byrd, of Sanford, N.C. Byrd is a member of the Campbell University Presidential Board of Advisors.
