Ben Severin has been named Campbell University’s Director of Financial Aid, effective Oct. 1.

A former assistant director and associate director of financial aid at Campbell since 2019,

In his role, Severin will lead the Financial Aid Office in providing service to Campbell students and their families. According to Vice President for Enrollment Management Dean Clark, Severin will work closely with departments across campus “to ensure transparency, clarity and support throughout the financial aid journey.
“Ben brings a wealth of experience in student financial services, and he has done a great job keeping things running smoothly during the search process,” Clark said. “I am excited for the vision, expertise and energy he brings to this important role.”

Severin is a graduate of Campbell University, earning his undergraduate degree in business administration and his MBA in 2014. He began his career in higher education after graduation when he joined Appalachian State as assistant director of financial aid for three years. He held the same role at NC State University from 2017-2019 before coming to Campbell.

Severin was one of five staff members to earn a Cherished Camel Award from new President William M. Downs this fall. The award is a new initiative to honor staff members who go “above and beyond” their roles at Campbell.

“Ben has shouldered much of the burden in Financial Aid the last 10 months,” said Bill Hall, who nominated Severin for the award. “His positive attitude is refreshing, and has helped sustain morale for other colleagues. Ben truly embodies the spirit of service that Campbell seeks as a model for all members of the university community.”
