Law Alumni Association hosts ‘Campbell Judges Speak’ CLE on Oct. 24

RALEIGH — In honor of the Campbell Law Alumni Association‘s 10th anniversary, the Association is hosting its annual six-hour “Campbell Judges Speak” Continuing Legal Education (CLE) on Friday, Oct. 24, Assistant Dean of External Relations Megan Sherron ‘10 has announced.

The CLE will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the law school. The event offers the opportunity for up to six hours of CLE credits (3 hours general, 1 hour ethics, 1 hour technology and 1 hour professional well-being). It will be offered as an in person event only with lunch provided. 

Speakers include:

Judge Melissa Owens Lassiter, Chief Administrative Law Judge, Judge John C. Evans, Senior Administrative Law Judge, North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings, will present “A View From the OAH Bench” (general credit).

Judge Donna Stroud, North Carolina Court of Appeals, will present “Everything is a Practice” (professional well-being credit).

Dean J. Rich Leonard (moderator), Judge Allegra Collins, Judge Toby Hampson, Judge Tom Murry, Judge Stroud and Judge John Tyson, all of the North Carolina Court of Appeals, will present, “The Court of Appeals Perspective” (general credit).

Judge Zachary Bolitho, U.S. Magistrate Judge Northern District of Florida, will present, “Tips for Practicing Before a U.S. Magistrate Judge” (general credit).

Judge Thomas CurrinJudge Ashley Gore, Judge Damion McCullers and Judge Warren McSweeney of the North Carolina District and Superior Court, will present, “Making the Most out of Technology in Legal Practice” (technology credit).

Judge Hoyt Tessener, Special Superior Court Judge, will present, “Ethical and Practical Quandary of Disqualification” (ethics credit).

Alumni Association members can attend the CLE for FREE and non-members and guests pay $125 for the full day and $75 for a half day. Current students, faculty and staff can also attend for free but must register at this link.

The Alumni Association currently boasts more than 640 alumni members including a number of lifetime members. The board works to foster a more interactive, engaged and robust alumni community.  It does this by hosting a number of signature events throughout each year, in addition to Continuing Legal Education (CLE)  opportunities, networking socials and providing career resources.
