Internationally known guitarist, Robert Gruca, will perform a program of classical music as part of Campbell University’s Performing Artists Series, Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 8 p.m. in Scott Concert Hall of the Rogers Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.Gruca will perform selections from 17th, 18th and 20th century composers, including Handel, Jorge Morel, and Isaac Albeniz.Playing a wide range of solo, chamber and concerto repertoire, Gruca has given concerts in Ohio, Michigan, New York, Maryland and Canada. Other accomplishments include touring Europe with the Cleveland Orchestra and performing Kurt Weill’s “Little Three Penny Music” and “The Lord of the Rings Symphony.”The winner of several national guitar competitions, Gruca is described as being a powerful musician with complete technical command over his instrument. He was also the top prize winner in the Rantucci International Guitar Competition.He lives in Hudson, Ohio, where he instructs students at his private guitar studio.
