PA students receive prestigious national scholarship

Kathy and Makayla

Kathy Huynh and Makayla Lail from Campbell University’s Physician Assistant program have been selected as recipients of the prestigious National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship.

With a national selection rate of just 3.3 percent, this achievement highlights their dedication to serving underserved communities through primary care.

Kathy serves as class president and plans to pursue family medicine, while Makayla, AAPA representative, is focused on pediatric primary care. Both students exemplify the mission of Campbell PA through leadership, advocacy, and a commitment to health equity.

The NHSC Scholarship, administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), covers full tuition and fees and provides a monthly stipend in exchange for service in Health Professional Shortage Areas after graduation.

We’re incredibly proud of Kathy and Makayla for their passion, purpose, and impact.
