Campbell hosts Carolinas Communication Association Conference in Raleigh

Campbell University’s Department of Communication Studies welcomed more than 70 communication scholars for the 2025 Carolinas Communication Association Conference (CCA) in downtown Raleigh on Oct. 9-11.

Scholars from as far away as North Dakota and Florida met at Campbell’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law for the conference. The gathering included more than 20 scholarly presentation panels from both faculty and graduate students. The theme of this year’s conference was “Communicating as Neighbors in Community” and featured a keynote address from Charlotte-based author and community advocate Greg Jarrell.

Dr. J. Dean Farmer, Communication Studies chair and CCA’s first vice president, led the organization of this year’s event.

“It was a great chance to connect and reconnect with scholars from the region and discuss subjects important to our society,” Farmer said. “It was especially heartwarming to see graduate students presenting, which let us witness the future of our discipline.”
