Classical guitar duo Pasquale Rucco and Douglas James will perform in concert on Thursday, Mar. 15, at 8 p.m. in Scott Concert Hall of Campbell University’s Rogers Fine Arts Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
Specializing in early 19th century music and authentic instruments of the period, Rucco and James perform music from the Romantic era, including selections from famous composers Joseph Haydn and Gioacchino Rossini.
The duo’s recent concert engagements include tours throughout Italy and America, including the Cleveland Institute of Music, Guitar Houston, Piccolo Spoleto and the Stetson International Guitar Workshop. Their new CD, “A Night at the Opera,” features arrangements from some of the most famous operas of all times.

Italian guitarist Pasquale Rucco is the winner of several European guitar competitions including the 1989 Arturo Toscannini Solo Guitar Competition for the performance of 19th century music. He has performed regularly in Europe and the United States, both as a soloist and chamber musician specializing in 19th century literature played on period instruments.
Douglas James won two National Endowment for the Arts Solo Recitalist Fellowships and performs frequently throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has been featured on major classical radio broadcasts including National Public Radio’s “Performance Today.” The duo’s recent concert engagements include tours throughout Italy and America, including the Cleveland Institute of Music, Guitar Houston, Piccolo Spoleto and the Stetson International Guitar Workshop.
