The work of Skye Dillon, junior graphic design major at Campbell University, has been selected as the visual identity for Methodist University Athletics.A committee of coaches at Methodist gathered to generate ideas for the new design in order to unify the school’s athletic brand and logo package. Dillon, a native of Exeter, Maine, was named for the project. In his logo, Dillon set out to capture the power and authority of the Methodist Monarch in the form of a lion.”My approach for this athletic brand was to capture the regal nature of a Monarch and integrate it with powerful and aggressive visual imagery of a lion defending its territory, fitting to represent an athletic department,” said Dillon.Bob McEvoy, director of Athletics for Methodist University said the goal of the committee was to create a package of logos that would be standard in all sports publications, uniforms, banners and athletic venues.Dillon owns and operates Skye Design Studios, a creative development firm that focuses on both athletic and corporate trademark development. “Our ultimate goal is to create the most original package possible that fully represents the organization and what it stands for,” said Dillon. “A solid identify package, brand or logo is what defines a company, athletic franchise, college or university.Among Dillon’s clients are the National Viperball League, Tri-County Health, Campbell University and the Mississippi Mudcats (AIFL).For more information on Dillon’s graphic design work, visit his Web site at http://www.skyedesignstudios.comPhoto Copy: Campbell University student Skye Dillon’s design for Methodist University Athletic
