Students at Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business learned about “Competing in a Global Environment” during another successful RBC Centura Business Week, Feb. 12-14, 2007.The second annual Business Week offered students the opportunity to meet with and hear from top business leaders in the Triangle area, as well as gain a better appreciation for how the business world operates.Dean Ben Hawkins says the events also provided great exposure for Campbell students to potential employers.”They were able to interact and hear from business people, and at the same time, these business people were able to see the ability of our students,” he said. The week featured a dinner for seniors and 3/2 MBA students Monday night at the RBC Center in Raleigh. Representatives from the business community joined Campbell University School of Business faculty and students in round-table discussions of international business cases.Tuesday, students were invited to attend a panel discussion focused on global business. Featured guest panelists included Tom Rabon, Executive VP for Corporate Affairs at Red Hat, Inc.; H. Richard Kahler, an international business consultant and former president of Caterpillar China; Diana Allen, Senior Counsel for CREE, Inc.; and David Robinson, an attorney with extensive international legal experience with operations in Mexico and several South American countries. The week’s events were sponsored by RBC Centura Bank. Hawkins said it’s a worthwhile investment in the education of Campbell’s students.”Our students were given the opportunity to hear some truly outstanding individuals. Without this type of support, it would be very difficult for us to attract that kind of talent to our campus,” he said.Of course, the week wasn’t all about lectures and discussions. On Thursday, students and faculty were able to take part in a friendly competition, participating in activities such as jousting, jeopardy and a video game showdown. The Trust Club walked away with this year’s coveted “Fetterman Cup.”Photo Copy: Dean Ben Hawkins (2nd from left) accepts a check from RBC Centura representatives Jim Hansen, Jim Brown and Bill Elliot.
