Dr. Pauline Calloway, associate professor of Family and Consumer Sciences, has received the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award from the Campbell University School of Education. Calloway has been a member of the Campbell faculty since 1987 when her field of study was called Home Economics. She assisted with a departmental review that resulted in the renaming of the department to Family and Consumer Sciences following a national movement to broaden the major to include child development and family studies. Calloway, who serves as coordinator of the Child Development program at Campbell, works closely with community agencies in Harnett County to provide services to children and to coordinate student internships with Harnett County agencies and schools. “Dr. Calloway quickly gets to know her students on a personal level through her enthusiasm for extracurricular activities and love of sports,” said Dr. Karen Nery, dean of the School of Education. She is also a strong believer in being involved in professional organizations and regularly takes students to state and national conventions.” With the help of Calloway’s support and assistance, several of Campbell’s Family and Consumer Science majors have been student officers in professional organizations at the state level, Nery added. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from High Point University, and masters’ degrees in Adult Education and Administration from North Carolina State University. She is an active member of Memorial Baptist Church.
