BUIES CREEK, North Carolina — The Cadet Command of the United States Army named Jacob Knox, a senior at Campbell University, as one of its top Army Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets for its annual national order-of-merit list. He was ranked 10th of 5,508 seniors on the list.
“I am truly honored and humbled by this recognition. I think it is important for me to recognize those who helped me get here more than my own ‘hard work’,” said Knox. “I feel like all I did was keep my head down and did the best with what I had, but those around me challenged me to be a better person daily. Thank you family, friends, cadre, mentors, and countless others. Without your support and example, I would not be where I am today.”
The criteria for the list includes factors like grade point average, performances on the Army Physical Fitness Test, athletic participation while enrolled in college, and performance during college ROTC training.
Knox is a math major in the College of Arts & Sciences and will graduate in May 2017.
Campbell is a nationally recognized military-friendly school and has campuses on Camp Lejeune, Fort Liberty/Pope Air Force, and the Research Triangle Park.
