RALEIGH, N.C. – United States Senator Richard Burr paid a visit to Campbell Law School on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Senator Burr toured the law school with field representative Betty Jo Shepheard, Campbell Law Interim Dean Keith Faulkner, and Campbell Law Director of Development Trudi Brown, before holding a discussion and question-and-answer session with more than 130 law school students, faculty, and staff members.

Senator Burr’s insightful and candid remarks frequently touched on leadership, fiscal responsibility, and the global economy. He also discussed his “three-C recipe for success” – character, conviction, and commitment.
“There is no issue more important that restarting this economy and putting American people back to work,” said Senator Burr. “Our economic recovery is absolutely essential to the prosperity of the rest of the world.”
In addition to his remarks, Senator Burr fielded questions from students, faculty and staff on a range of issues including student debt, legal aid assistance, the use of the filibuster in Congress, and foreign policy. Prior to leaving, Senator Burr exchanged greetings and posed for photos with several students.
Senator Burr was sworn-in to serve North Carolina in the U.S. Senate on Jan. 4, 2005. He previously served the state in the U.S. House of Representatives, and is currently the Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee. He also sits on the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee; the Intelligence Committee; and the Finance Committee.
