RALEIGH, N.C. – Dean Melissa Essary was honored Wednesday, May 11, as one of the ‘2011 Women of Achievement’ by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of North Carolina, Inc. (GFWC-NC).

At the event, the GFWC-NC honored 18 outstanding women for their significant contributions to the state of North Carolina. These women are pioneers in their professional and community efforts serving as role models for future generations. The Women of Achievement (WOA) award winners are some of the best and brightest leaders in government, business, and nonprofits in the state. Each honoree boasts a career defined by hard work and a commitment to helping others. They have taught us that service is not a duty, but a privilege, and a part of living life to the fullest.
This year’s honorees represented fields such as education, medicine, public service, philanthropy and business.
