RALEIGH – Campbell Law Review will host a symposium on Tuesday, Nov. 14, examining technology’s role in the increased transparency of government communications and the resulting exposure of government officials to new legal and ethical challenges.
“Echoes of Watergate: Emerging Issues in Government Communications” will feature five panels with 13 legal scholars, judges, and authors from across the country.
In the 45 year wake of Watergate, government communications have evolved from a world of secrecy to a world of unfettered transparency. The symposium examines a wide range of related issues, including: investigations that erode the zone of privacy, the President’s use of Twitter, the propriety of ex parte communications, and the balance between the First Amendment and perceptions of judicial bias.
The symposium offers six hours of continuing legal education credit, is free for students, and is open to the public for a nominal charge. Click on this link to register online. Registration will close at 5 p.m. on Nov. 9.
