The College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences’ announces the 2011 pharmacy preceptors of the year.
Gaye Moseman was named the 2011 community practice preceptor of the year. Moseman owns and operates Medicap Pharmacy in Wilmington, NC.
A student who nominated Moseman included the following comment regarding her rotation, “If I were to hold-up an example of what a pharmacist should be–amazing customer service, individual attention to medical needs of clients, positive work environment, supportive staff and management – it would be Gaye Moseman.”
The award for 2011hospital practice preceptor of the year was presented to Phil Mentler, who practices in the emergency department at Durham Regional Hospital.
The following comment is from Mentler’s student nominations, “Dr. Mentler takes time to explain everything that is going on in the ER. He welcomes questions and loves to draw and show the students why and how drugs work. He makes you realize the impact that a pharmacist can make in patient care.”
Preceptors of the year are select from nominations submitted by the recent graduating pharmacy class. The College’s Experiential Programs Advisory Committee reviews the nominations and selects the recipients. The recipients were recognized at the NC Association of Pharmacists annual meeting on October 25 in Greensboro, NC.
