Thirty-nine CUSOM students received recognition from the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) for more than 50 hours of individual community service as part of the Translating Osteopathic Understanding into Community Health (TOUCH) program.
Thirty-four students met the Silver TOUCH benchmark of at least 50 hours of service; four students met the Gold TOUCH benchmark of at least 100 hours; and one MS-II, Brianna Knott, received Platinum recognition for 224 hours of community service.
Robert Wills, National Programs Representative for The Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) states, “Amid the academic demands of medical school, it takes a special student to go above and beyond their obligations to provide services that benefit their school and community.”
While the TOUCH program recognition is open to all osteopathic medical students nationwide, only 6.5% of osteopathic medical students achieve greater than the 50 hour minimum for recognition.
“We are thrilled to have so many CUSOM students recognized,” said Mattie Bendall, Executive Director for Student Affairs at CUSOM. “We know they have servants’ hearts, and we see the good things they do regularly, so to have TOUCH recognition – especially for those giving more than 100 hours – makes us quite Campbell Proud!”
