BUIES CREEK – Popular blogger and author Rachel Held Evans, who writes about issues of faith and Christianity, will speak at Campbell University on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, about her forthcoming book, “A Year of Biblical Womanhood.” The talk is open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. in D. Rich Memorial Building’s Turner Auditorium.
Evans chronicles her year-long attempt to follow the Bible’s instructions for women as literally as possible in her second book, the full title of which is “A Year of Biblical Womanhood: How a Liberated Woman Found Herself Sitting on Her Roof, Covering Her Head and Calling Her Husband Master.” It will be published on October 30, 2012, by Thomas Nelson.
In her first book, “Evolving in Monkey Town,” published by Zondervan in 2010, Evans explored her experiences of growing up in Dayton, Tenn., where the Scopes Monkey Trial was held in 1925, and how young evangelical Christians’ views on evolution and Christianity have shifted since then.
