Actors fly through production of “Two Donuts” at Campbell

Buies Creek, N.C.- A grant in the amount of $2,000 from the Harnett County Arts Council lends wings to Campbell University’s production of “Two Donuts,” a play in which a young Latino boy’s quest for adventure turns into a crusade against an unjust dictator. Added to the play’s action is a high-flying aerial performance by the group “Flying by Foy,” made possible by the grant. “Two Donuts will be presented by the Campbell University Theatre Arts Department on Friday and Saturday, April 16-17, and Thursday-Saturday, April 22-24, at 7 p.m. in Ellis Theatre of the Taylor Bott Rogers Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children, students and senior citizens.

With a mix of actors, puppetry, music and flying, “Two Donuts” is an amazing experience, said Director Georgia Martin, professor of Theatre Arts at Campbell.

“I fell in love with the play, it’s just so universal,” said Martin. “It is sweet, timeless and touches a lot of people.”

Playwright José Cruz Gonzalez’ message of the importance of home, family and culture to all people makes a profound point while delivering on laughs and fun.

“This play should delight audiences-young, old and any age,” Martin said. “It’s appropriate for children and adults who have a fun side to them.”

Included in the cast are actors Jon Cheney, Tre’shay Williams, Liz Holmes, James Davis, Kaley Morrrison, Jessi Ferguson, and Kara Morrison, of Fayetteville, N.C., Amber France of Westfield, N.C., Charles Napier, of Coats, N.C., Ernestine Stewart of Roxboro, N.C., and Sharita Barnaby of Dudley, N.C.
