Buies Creek, N.C. – Dr. Michael L. Adams, Director of Science Education Outreach and assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Campbell University, received the 2011 Dean’s Excellence in Teaching award from the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences in April.
Adams, who joined Campbell University in 2005 as assistant professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department, received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Campbell in 1996 and his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Washington School of Pharmacy in Seattle Washington. Adams went on to pursue a post doctoral fellowship at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in molecular immunology.
“Obviously, this educational background and research experience gave Dr. Adams a special perspective and ability to excel in teaching Medicinal Chemistry at Campbell,” said Dr. Ronald Maddox, dean of the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. “He presents challenging material while instilling a strong work ethic, honesty and integrity in his students.”
In addition to teaching pharmacology and medicinal chemistry, Adams also teaches Substance Abuse, General Toxicology, Essentials of Toxicology and Introduction to Pharmacology.
