BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Newly-elected North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has appointed Campbell Business adjunct faculty member Dr. Ron Penny as acting secretary of the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Penny teaches BADM 752: Human Resources Management at Campbell Business.

“One of the hallmarks of a Campbell Business education is the practical nature of the instruction,” said Campbell Business Dean Dr. Kevin O’Mara. “Given our proximity to the Research Triangle, we are very fortunate to have access to adjunct faculty with significant expertise, contacts and experience. Being able to offer our students the opportunity to learn from individuals such as Dr. Penny is invaluable for their education. We have been pleased that Dr. Penny has been willing to be part of Campbell Business for many years and are proud of his latest appointment.”

Penny has already begun running the department and will continue until the agency has hired a permanent secretary. In 2009 he was appointed by then Governor Bev Perdue to the Governor’s Budget Reform Commission. He is also the former director of the North Carolina Office of State Personnel and chaired the Department of Public Administration at North Carolina Central University while serving as an assistant to the university provost.
