Adult and Online Education, formerly Extended Programs, unveils new logo

BUIES CREEK — The department formerly known as Extended Programs at Campbell University has unveiled a new name and logo, Dean John Roberson announced today.

Adult and Online Education encompasses Campbell’s campuses at Fort Liberty/Pope AFB, Camp Lejeune/New River and Research Triangle Park, as well as the University’s growing online programs. The new name more accurately represents the department, according to Roberson.

“While ‘Extended Programs’ is a very accurate and academy-friendly description of the unit’s function, it is not understood by the public and, therefore, may not provide the best alternative for external positioning,” Roberson said. “‘Adult and Online Education’ provides a clear and accurate picture of this unit’s mission.”

The new logo, which is similar to military division badge or patch, includes five stars representing the five branches of the Armed Services, with a globe symbolizing online education. The “swish” symbol represents the University’s movement in extending educational opportunities to service members, civilians and the global community, according to Roberson.

The new design was created by Julie Hammer of 90˚ Design, Campbell Director of Visual Identity Jonathan Bronsink, Assistant Vice President of Communications and Marketing Haven Hottel and Roberson.
