BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell Business School held its second-annual senior dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Taverna Agora in downtown Raleigh. Prominent area leaders and political officials served as table facilitators to guide discussions with the 66 students in attendance, nearly double the size of last year’s gathering.

“Our annual senior dinner was a special event for our students, and a fantastic opportunity for them to network and practice the professionalism skills that we’ve worked so hard to perfect,” said Campbell Business Dean Dr. Kevin O’Mara. “The fact that this event nearly doubled from last year shows that our students recognize the value in these meaningful opportunities

“We’re also extremely appreciative of the numerous local leaders that donated time from their busy schedules to get to know our students and provide their wise counsel and advice. We are exceptionally grateful for the financial support of St. Joseph of the Pines and Coleman & Associates for turning this wonderful opportunity into a reality.”

Two-time former Raleigh mayor, developer and local icon Smedes York served as the keynote speaker over dinner, offering impactful wisdom on the many experiences throughout his career in public service and professional opportunities. Table facilitators included North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey, North Carolina Insurance Deputy Commissioner Dr. Michelle Osborne, Capstrat Vice President of Digital Media Kyle Sutton, dWise Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer Bud Whitmeyer, Rick Boyd of Cherry Beckaert and BB&T President and FINRA board member John Clark. Students and facilitators were paired based on similar academic backgrounds.

The evening began with a networking session which allowed students to mix and mingle with event attendees prior to dinner. The evening provided Campbell Business students with an opportunity to put into practice the professional development skills that they have been honing throughout their time in Buies Creek. Students Jonathan Choi and Audrey Jordan added to the student-focused theme of the evening, with Choi introducing York and Jordan providing the prayer.

St. Joseph of the Pines served as a Gold Level sponsor for the evening, while Coleman & Associates was an Orange Level sponsor. St. Joseph of the Pines leaders Lori Portfleet (President), Jeannine Richman (Controller and CFO), Marcus Thompson (Marketing Director) and Jennifer Hillard (Hiring Director) also served as table facilitators, as did Coleman & Associates President Eddie Coleman and Vice President Win Coleman.
