“Quem Queritis: Whom Seek Ye?” is an adaptation of a number of medieval religious dramas by Campbell Theatre Arts Professor Bert Wallace. The play is the spring offering from the Campbell University Theatre Arts Department who teamed up with the university’s Graphic Design students to create a design concept for the play poster. Mitchell Beasley’s design, featuring an eerie skeleton reminiscent of medieval martyred saints, was the winning entry.Beasley, a sophomore majoring in graphic design, said he has always loved art and is fascinated with graphic design because it represents the marriage of design and technology.”I’ve been drawing since I can remember,” he said. “I fell in love with art at an early age and graphic design is just another expression of an artist’s vision.”A resident of Erwin, N.C., Beasley is the son of Sharon and Gary Beasley. He is a Presidential Scholar and a member of the honor society Epsilon Pi Eta. Beasley received $50 and two free tickets to a performance of “Quem Queritis” for his winning design.Director Bert Wallace said the reason the play was adapted and staged in the medieval tradition was to learn about the language and theatrical practices of the Middle Ages and to explore the use of masks and movement techniques. “The most important goal,” said Wallace, “is to honor God’s most Holy Word, His Son and those who died for Him.”Photo Copy: Mitchell Beasley and his winning poster design for Campbell’s spring play “Quem Queritis: Whom Seek Ye?”
