At the beginning of August, the Beta Kappa Chapter of Phi Delta Chi at Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (CPHS) traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to participate in the pharmacy fraternity’s 70th Grand Council.
“The achievements and recognition of our Beta Kappa chapter this year are a definite reflection of the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our chapter to the principles of Phi Delta Chi and CPHS,” shared Bob Cisneros, PhD, faculty adviser for the fraternity.
The group participated in general business meetings, officer training courses, and a bowling fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. However, the highlight of the trip was the Grand Council Awards Banquet. Brandon Hill, student pharmacist, was named the Grand Vice President for Student Affairs, becoming the first national officer to hail from Campbell University. In addition, alumnus Carl Teachey was named the Regional Director for Collegiate Affairs, further strengthening Campbell’s representation on the regional and national levels. The final brother to carry home an award was alumna Ross Tingen who received a “Crowning Glory Award” for her service to the fraternity. The chapter, as a whole, received first place for the Chapter Publication Award and Norman H. Franke Scholarship and an award for fulfilling the requirements of the Achievement Award Program.
The collegiate brothers in attendance were Matthew Harding, Brandon Hill, Kyle Smith, Sara Valanejad, Tiffany Vu, and Paige White. Alumni brothers in attendance were Carl Teachey, PharmD ’14, Jeff Tingen, PharmD ’09, Ross Tingen, PharmD ’11, and Courtney Schammel, PharmD ’14.
