Campbell alumna competes for Miss Universe Aruba title

Beauty and brains—that’s the way Miss Universe Aruba contestant Mila Ponson is described by the foreign press. Ponson, who graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in May 2006, won the “Best Figure” competition at the 2006 Miss Universe Aruba preliminary contests. The pageant will be held on August 5. A native of Aruba, Ponson is planning to attend medical school in Costa Rica. She enjoys tennis, is a member of the International Society of Poetry and is an advocate for women’s rights. Founded in 1887, Campbell University is a private, co-educational institution of the liberal arts, sciences and professions offering undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees.
