Buies Creek-Campbell University theatre professor Keith Hight and a handful of Campbell theatre students will again team up with the Harnett Regional Theatre in the season finale “Some Enchanted Evening, a salute to the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. The musical review opens Friday, May 8 at 8 p.m. at Harnett Regional Theatre and runs through Sunday, May 17.
“The production is backed with impressive singing and majestic piano accompaniment from maestros Devin Hocutt, a Campbell alumnus, and Campbell student Anna Hobgood,” said Hight. “Musical Director Hocutt uses the voices within the company in a way that fulfills the best outcome for the music. Mixing the darker vocals with the lighter ones adds variety and richness to the texture of the music.”
“Some Enchanted Evening, “I Cain’t Say No,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair,” and other classic songs are interpreted in new and unusual ways by soloists David John Hailey, Brianne Chambers, Jami Howard and others. Costumes by designer Amy Langdon and set by Jessi Ferguson also complement the production, Hight said.
“Those who are fans of Rodgers and Hammerstein will simply enjoy this trip down memory lane and these great classics of musical theatre,” Hight said.
The cast includes Amy Langdon, Beth Weeks, Brianne Chambers, David John Hailey, Jami Howard, Jana Wells, Jessie Burkart, Katie Andrews, Nick Hammond, Ashley Hocutt, Tom Besade and Vicky Mathers. For ticket information, contact the Harnett Regional Theatre at 910.892.8142.
