Campbell announces changes to graduation schedule of events

Buies Creek, N.C.-In order to better accommodate students and their families, Campbell University has announced several changes to its 2010 spring graduation schedule.

Traditionally held the day before the general commencement service, the spring baccalaureate service is scheduled for Sunday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in the Gore Arena of the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center. The baccalaureate speaker will be Dr. W. Glenn Jonas, Jr., chairman of the Department of Religion and Philosophy and professor of religion at Campbell. The service follows an awards dinner for faculty and graduating seniors held in McCall Court of the Convocation Center at 5 p.m.

Hooding ceremonies for the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the Divinity School are scheduled for Friday, May 14. Graduates of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will receive their hoods at 3 p.m. in Gore Arena, while the Divinity School service will be held at 7 p.m. in Turner Auditorium of the D. Rich Memorial Building.

On Saturday, May 15, at 10 a.m. the commencement service for undergraduates will take place in the Gore Arena of the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center. Also part of the general graduation ceremony will be the hooding services for the School of Education and the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. Frank B. Holding, Jr., CEO and chairman of the board of First Citizens BancShares, Inc. and its two subsidiaries, First Citizens Bank and IronStone Bank, will deliver the commencement address.

The graduation and hooding ceremony for the Norman Adrian School of Law will take place the following week in Raleigh. The ceremony will be held on Friday, May 21, at 10 a.m. at the Meymandi Concert Hall of the Progress Energy Center of the Performing Arts.
