Campbell University announced this week a new director of procurement to oversee and lead the acquisition of materials, services, supplies and equipment and support faculty and staff in their purchasing efforts.
Thomas Tran Pham has spent the past six years as a buyer for the North Orange County Community College District in Anaheim, California. In his role, Pham oversaw all purchasing — in addition to contracts with other educational institutions, commercial organizations and various stakeholders — for Cypress College, Fullerton College and North Orange Continuing Education, three schools that enrolled a total of 78,000 students annually.
Prior to that, Pham, a 2009 graduate of the University of California, Riverside who earned his MBA in 2014 from Cal State Fullerton, held purchasing roles at Pacific Investment Management Company and Hyundai Capital America.
The director of procurement role at Campbell is responsible for leading, planning and directing the activities of the University’s purchasing program to support users and developing policies and procedures to establish and maintain legal compliance, financial accountability, physical control and effective resource utilization for assigned programs.
Pham will represent Campbell in negotiations and will award contracts to obligate physical and financial resources. He will also provide customer service and training to faculty and staff, as well as integrity and consistency to meet campus purchasing needs.
“Campbell University is fortunate to bring in a talented professional such as Thomas Pham to our team,” said Sandy Connolly, vice president for business and chief financial officer. “Thomas brings experience, strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to lead the University procurement. We could not be more pleased.”
