DUNN — Campbell University and Dunn Benson Motorsports have teamed up for the 2017 racing season. Under the new partnership, DBM will carry Campbell logos on its cars for all race events, and Campbell will be the presenting sponsor for the national racing event at Fayetteville Motor Speedway on July 6.
Additionally, DBM will provide a specially designed Campbell racecar/showcar for the Fayetteville race — the Dunn Benson Ford Wayne Gray Sr. Memorial — and the car will be displayed at future University events such as Homecoming. DMB is owned and operated by Carlton and Kemp Lamm, and the No. 1 Lucas Oil Racing car is driven by Earl Pearson Jr.
“I am pleased that Campbell will be a partner with the Lamm Family,” said Campbell President J. Bradley Creed. “We believe in supporting local businesses and look forward to sharing the Campbell story with race fans across North Carolina and the country.”
Nearly 30 races remain in the 2017 Lucas Oil Dirt Series, which runs from February to October in 23 states. This year, the series expanded its television package to air multiple events live on five networks — CBS, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, MAVTV Motorsports and LucasOilRacing.tv.
The Lamm family, in a statement released this week, called the partnership “an opportunity for our race team to reach a new market and create new fans for a sport that we love.”
