BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell Business alum Ben Polland capitalized on a three-hole playoff to collect the title at one of the oldest tournaments in the nation on Thursday, Aug. 27 in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Polland nailed a birdie on the final hole of regulation to force Tyler Hall into a playoff, ultimately collecting the crown at the 100th Metropolitan Open at Winged Foot Golf Club’s East Course.
Polland, an assistant professional at Deepdale Golf Club in Manhasset, N.Y., collected a $27,500 purse for the win.
A graduate of Campbell University's PGA Golf Management Program, Polland played a vital role as his Campbell squad won the 2012 PGA Jones Cup, the annual 36-hole Championship featuring PGA Golf Management University programs from around the country. Polland also represented Campbell's varsity golf team during the spring 2011 semester. He also earned his BBA/MBA from Campbell Business in 2013.
