Campbell Business raises funds for Hope for Haiti, Hurricane Matthew relief efforts

Campbell University 2016 Winter Commencement

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell Business students, faculty and staff took service and leadership to heart yesterday, Wednesday, Oct. 12, to help those recently disturbed by natural disasters. In cooperation with the Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (CPHS) Department of Public Health, Campbell Business utilized its weekly “Coffee Break” networking period to collect money for the Hope for Haiti Foundation and relief efforts for Hurricane Matthew.

Campbell Business Associate Professor and MBA Program Director Dr. Edward Fubara traveled to Haiti alongside the Hope for Haiti Foundation in May of 2015 to explore opportunities for students alongside Dr. David Tillman of CPHS. Tillman was recently informed by his Haitian contacts that, as a result of the storm, the area will suffer through a significant food crisis over the next six to seven months. As a result, Fubara and Tillman immediately took action and sought ways to involve the campus community.

Campbell Business’ weekly “Coffee Break” is a new initiative that began with the fall 2016 academic semester. The time is a networking opportunity for students, faculty and staff to connect. Scheduled for each Wednesday from 9:45-10:15 a.m. next to the Lundy Fountain, the school provides beverages and refreshments for attendees and encourages participants to use the time as an opportunity to share upcoming events and initiatives with others.
