BUIES CREEK, N.C. – A team of students from Campbell Business School won the inaugural 2015 Collegiate Economics Challenge on Sunday, April 26. Students Jonathan Choi, Carson Futch, and Nick Wilder comprised the winning team, defeating competition from Barton College, Johnson & Wales University, and Winthrop University en route to the title. Campbell Business Associate Dean for External Relations and Business Professor Dr. Shahriar Mostashari served as the group’s coach.
“I admire our Campbell Business trio for taking time from their final exams to represent our school in this competition,” said Dr. Mostashari. “They made us very Campbell proud.
“I am also grateful to Barton College and Professor John Bethune for organizing the two-day Collegiate Economics Challenge and their hospitality.”
All four teams faced one another twice in head-to-head competition. Each round consisted of 17 questions reflecting material drawn from the principles of micro- and macroeconomics. Correct answers were valued at one point each, with the team totaling the most points at the end of the 17 questions winning the round. Campbell Business students went undefeated.
The competition was hosted by Barton College in nearby, Wilson, North Carolina.
