Campbell Communication student receives full scholarship to Baylor Divinity School

Buies Creek, N.C.—Campbell University senior Robin Price, a Communication Studies major and student ambassador, is the recipient of a full tuition scholarship to Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. Price will pursue a Master of Divinity degree with concentrations in Missions and World Christianity.

A native of Raleigh, N.C., Price said her communication degree with concentrations in Public Relations and Health Communication will help her in any avenue of ministry she chooses.

“When I came to Campbell, I wanted to be a science major in preparation for being in some form of recreation ministry,” said Price. “But I soon realized that I wasn’t where I wanted to be. In the process of figuring out whether to major in social work, religion or communication, I talked to professors in these programs, and they helped me make my decision.”

Price chose communication studies because missions and ministry are all about connecting with people.

“I’m just excited about every aspect of ministry—meeting different people, understanding where they are coming from and how they are different from me. Just learning about people is exciting,” Price said.

Campbell University gave price a good foundation for leaving her comfort zone and traveling to another state to attend school, she added.

“I’ve made some really great friends at Campbell and participated in activities that have helped me grow as a student and a Christian,” she said.

During her University career, Price was a member of Campus Crusade for Christ, the Baptist Student Union and Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society. She and her roommate led a Bible study, and she participated in a campus-wide small group Bible study. Price also served as a College of Arts and Sciences Student Ambassador, a new program at Campbell initiated to encourage potential students and ease the transition from high school to college.

In her scholarship application to Baylor, Price summarized her understanding of her own spiritual life.

“While I realize that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things, sometimes it is hard to believe that Christ can use me. But I am learning to trust Him and his plan without fully understanding. My heart’s passion is for the world to know the gospel and develop a personal relationship with Christ as I have throughout my life,” she said.
