Buies Creek, N.C. – The Campbell Divinity School will host and co-sponsor a dynamic church music conference featuring nationally known clinicians. “Oasis: Renew for the Journey,” is set for July 19-20, at the Divinity School and is billed as a multi-faceted experience that explores new offerings in church music and worship resources.
Among the featured clinicians is Pepper Choplin, composer of over two hundred anthems in addition to seven choral musicals. Choplin leads events throughout the country that combine inspirational and humorous musical moments. Mark Edwards, another clinician, is vice president and CEO of Celebrating Grace, Inc., and a veteran of music ministry. A frequent choral clinician, composer, conference leader and musical arranger, Edwards has published works on congregational singing and dozens of hymn settings for congregations, choir, vocalists, piano and organ.
Clinician David Schwoebel is Minister of Music and Composer in Residence at Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond, Va. As an ordained minister, Schwoebel oversees a comprehensive music ministry of nine choral organizations, five handbell choirs, an Orff ensemble, a 28-piece orchestra and brass ensemble.
Terry Taylor is associate pastor of Worship and Music Ministries at Shades Crest Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala. and has served as Minister of Music at Peachtree Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga., First Baptist Church of Enterprise, Ala., and First Baptist Church of Norman, Okla.
As part of the event, Dr. Jeff Roberts, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh, will lead specific sessions for pastors, and a Celebrating Grace Hymnal concert as well as a performance by the North Carolina Baptist All-State Youth Choir are set for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
