Buies Creek, N.C.-Known for his impressionistic style and unusual technique, Allen Montague has gained acclaim throughout North Carolina and the world. Campbell University will exhibit a selection of Montague’s paintings, Feb. 20-March 18 in the E.P. Sauls Gallery of the Taylor Bott Rogers Fine Arts Center. On Monday, Feb. 23, the public is invited to attend a Meet and Greet session with the artist from 5:30-6:15 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 6:45 p.m. and an 8 p.m. presentation by the artist in Hartness Lecture Hall of the Science building. Tickets for the buffet are $10 each.
A Campbell alumnus, Montague could truly be considered a renaissance man. Painter, accomplished inventor, gourmet cook, speaker and TV host, there are few endeavors in which he has not succeeded.
“Mr. Montague has proven that there can be such a thing as a successful art business,” said Larkin Tysor, professor of Fine Art at Campbell. “By pursuing his diversity of talent, he has not only created a thriving art business, but many successful derivative businesses as well.”
Montague combined his talent for painting and his love for cooking and writing to publish his first book, “Monet to Bearnaise,” and to host and produce a widely-viewed cooking and art television show. He has also been asked by one of the world’s largest manufacturers of art supplies to produce his own line of paints, art supplies, finger painting kits and videos called “Allen Montague-The Southern Palette.”
