Campbell faculty pick winners in area high school art contest

The art department at Campbell University hosted the opening and awards ceremonies for a juried art competition featuring local high schools on March 29. 

Students from Harnett, Wake, Chatham, Lee, Moore, Hoke, Cumberland, Sampson and Johnston counties competed by submitting their work earlier in the academic year. 

Campbell art faculty awarded three monetary awards for first, second and third place and four non-monetary merit awards. The winners were as follows (pictured above, clockwise). 

  • First: “Blue Sky” by Faith Ifidon, Garner Magnet High School
  • Second: “The Holy Bride” by Shreeya Gokaraju, Holly Springs High School
  • Third: “Reach” by Jackson Cole, Union Pines High School
  • Merit: “A Moment Alone” by Shreeya Gokaraju, Holly Springs High School
  • Merit: “Sing Gently” by Clara Stanley, Union Pines High School
  • Merit: “Eyes of the Jungle” by Shreeya Gokaraju, Holly Springs High School
  • Merit: Joshika Mula, Athens Drive High School

An exhibit featuring the art work will remain up in the E.P. Sauls Gallery in the Taylor Bott Rogers Fine Arts Building until April 25.
