Campbell goes up against Old Dominion in First home game of the season

Buies Creek, N.C.—Hot on the heels of a thrilling victory over the University of Virginia at Wise, Campbell University’s Fighting Camels football team prepares for its first home game on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. against Old Dominion University. Coach Dale Steele said the team looks forward to the game with anticipation and renewed energy.

“We are excited to be coming home to Barker Lane Stadium to open the home season against Old Dominion University,” said Steele. “We are expecting a large crowd and an electric environment on Saturday. I hope all Campbell students and fans will come out to enjoy an exciting day of football in Buies Creek.”

The Camels have built on their first two varsity seasons at the Division I level with hard work and a determination to win, said Steele, proof of which can be found in the team’s late score against UVA -Wise . In this game, played Saturday, Sept. 4, senior quarterback Daniel Polk made a game-winning touchdown from a yard out with just 8 seconds left in the game to give the Camels a 20-16 victory.

The University will also be commemorating the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, with a 9/11 Day of Service featuring several opportunities for volunteers to be of service to the community—from donating food to painting a church. Community members may participate in the food drive by dropping off non-perishable items at the University’s Y parking lot next to Barker-Lane Stadium on the morning of Sept. 11, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Tickets for the football game are $15 for adults and $5 for youth, ages 3-17. Children under three are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased on the Campbell web site at gocamels.com and follow the links for tickets, or at the gate on the day of the game.
