Students, faculty and staff gathered in Turner Auditorium on Aug. 29 for Campbell University’s Convocation Service.”This occasion blends our worship with the recognition of the community we share here on campus,” said Faithe Beam, campus minister.Dr. Dwaine Greene, vice president for Academic Affairs and Provost, delivered the convocation address.”The campus is always better when the students return. This year is going to be the best year,” said Dr. Greene. “A lot of excitement is on campus right now and I hope this will be a very successful year for you.”On a somber note, Greene reflected on former president Dr. Norman A. Wiggins’ death.”Dr. Wiggins was a contemplative, Christian man,” said Greene. “The opportunities you have here today are because of Dr. Wiggins’ accomplishments.”He challenged the students to view their own lives and not to strain unduly for the future, but realize the gifts of the present. “We are time-concise creatures with time-centered lives; however, we can measure our lives by the power of God’s presence,” he said.Photo- Dr. Dwaine Greene, vice president for Academic Affairs and Provost, delivered the convocation address.
