BUIES CREEK – Three local town managers (two current and one retired) participated in an on campus forum sponsored by the Department of History, Justice & Political Science and the Public Affairs Club on Tuesday.
Tommy Burns (Spring Lake), Bryan Thompson (Erwin) and Tom Taylor (former Angier town manager) met with Campbell University students to discuss careers in public management and Master in Public Administration degrees.
Each administrator spoke for 15 minutes followed by 30 minutes of questions and answers.
“It was informative and fun, which we have come to expect,” said Dr. John Mero. “The students benefit from hearing about real-life situations in public administration that often involve politics. Our speakers draw in the listener with incredibly interesting and insightful narratives. It is much more enjoyable than reading a text and is of equal or greater value to our students.”
Each year the Public Affairs Club coordinates the forum — this year’s officers are Danny Gibson, Holly Jones, Andrew Neptune and Marshall Conrad — and the Department of History, Justice and Political Science generously the event.
