Buies Creek, N.C.-Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and come and enjoy the fun as Campbell University throws an old-fashioned block party for the entire Harnett County community. The party will feature free food, games, and a performance by the Baptist All State Youth Choir. It will kick off on Tuesday, July 21, from 6-7:30 p.m. on the University’s Academic Circle in front of the D. Rich Building.
According to the Campus Minister’s Office, which coordinated the event, the menu includes grilled hot dogs and potato chips, cotton candy and snow cones. Children and adults alike can also enjoy a variety of entertainment, including a dunking booth, a slide, a jousting game and many other attractions.
Performing at 7 p.m. on the Academic Circle, the Baptist All State Youth Choir will present some of the works included in their tour of western North Carolina. The choir is sponsored by the Music and Worship Team of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and is made up of high school students from across the state. The choir begins the week of their tour in rehearsal and learns a repertoire of music to be performed at different venues throughout the state. This is the ninth year Campbell has hosted the choir or a portion of it.
“We’re thrilled to host the All-State Youth Choir,” said Campus Minister Faithe Beam. “These students are excited about sharing their love for Christ through music and ministry, and they work hard to prepare for their tour. The block party is a great family friendly gathering and a wonderful way for folks and churches in the community to connect at Campbell.”
Those planning to attend should R.S.V.P by Friday, July 17, by calling Terry Tucker, Ministry Assistant, in the Campus Minister’s Office at 910.893.1547.
