RALEIGH — A Campbell Law School alumna and a third-year student have co-authored a new book about prenups.

Gailor Family Law Litigation Clinic Staff Attorney Carlie Spencer ‘20 and Olivia Reiff ’25 recently published “The Prenup Girl’s Guide to a Successful Marriage.” The book is available for purchase on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

According to the authors, the book ensures prenups are not just to protect your assets, but “to help you and your partner have a successful marriage.” According to Spencer and Reiff prenups “are for anyone who wants to enter marriage with eyes wide open and a plan in place.” The book works to bust myths and attack the stigma against prenups.

In the book, the authors describe prenups as a “personalized financial security blanket.” Many are under the impression the prenups are only for wealthy individuals, however Spencer says, “By busting these myths, we hope you see prenups for what they really are: a smart, loving way to protect yourselves and each other.”

Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, Spencer also won a variety of local pageant titles, Miss Cleveland, Miss Greensboro, Miss Raleigh and Miss Dunn, placing in the Top 10 at Miss North Carolina and earning thousands in scholarship dollars from the Miss America Opportunity program all while in law school. In 2017, Spencer graduated from Troy University, with a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics. While in law school, Spencer ran for Raleigh City Council in 2019, earned the National Mock Trial Outstanding Advocate Award, worked at the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, and participated in the Business Law Clinic. Since graduation, Spencer has narrowed her legal focus to family and prenup law, and in 2024, she launched her own law firm, Strive Law Firm, in Raleigh.
