RALEIGH – Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard has been tapped to lead an American Bar Association (ABA) committee. Leonard will serve as chair of the Awards Committee for the 2017-18 bar year for the Lawyers Conference of the ABA’s Judicial Division.
The committee selects the annual winners of the Burnham “Hod” Greeley Award and the Robert B. Yegge Award. The Greeley Award honors contributions to the public understanding of the role of the judiciary and the rule of law, while the Yegge Award honors contributions in the field of judicial administration. Leonard himself received the Yegge Award in 2011 while serving as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
“As a recipient of one of the illustrious awards given by this committee, I am honored to serve as committee chair,” said Leonard. “There is no shortage of legal professionals making tremendous advances in our society due to this profession, and it’s very important that we find ways to champion such success.”
The ABA’s Judicial Division Lawyers Conference is composed of lawyers, judges, court managers, legal teachers, writers and publishers, and law students. The Lawyers Conference includes both judicial and non-judicial members.
