RALEIGH — Campbell Law School has once again been recognized among the nation’s top schools for innovation, Dean J. Rich Leonard announced.

preLaw Magazine has named Campbell Law among the Top 20 most innovative law schools in its Fall 2023 edition.

The magazine spotlighted 20 law schools that are implementing innovative programs to prepare students for the future. The magazine grouped the schools into five categories: artificial intelligence, other legal technology, social justice, other curricula and legal education programs.

Campbell Law is being recognized for its partnership with the City of Raleigh’s Housing Justice Project, which helps low-income residents who are facing eviction and homelessness. The project is part of the Blanchard Community Law Clinic, which has helped more than 1,600 clients since opening in 2016. Through the clinic, students help provide advice and legal representation (under the supervision of a licensed attorney) in eviction proceedings to eligible Raleigh residents. Campbell Law and North Carolina Central University’s law school are the only North Carolina schools in the ranking. Both were recognized for their innovations in social justice efforts.

Previously, Campbell Law was ranked among the 25 most innovative law schools in the Winter 2022 edition of preLaw Magazine. At the time, Campbell Law, which was recognized for its innovation in legal technology, was the lone North Carolina institution featured on the list. The list was broken down into three categories: diversity, equity and inclusion; legal technology; and new and expanded programs.
