Campbell Law Review to hold symposium on investment crowdfunding

RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law Review will hold its annual symposium on Friday, Oct. 16, on the topic of investment crowdfunding. The daylong event will feature five panels with more than 20 guest speakers, including 1981 Campbell Law graduate and North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and state senator Tamara Barringer.

Crowdfunding has emerged as a leading source of securing capital for inventors, businesses, and advocacy groups in recent years, and is a relevant topic for any attorney dealing with securities or small business law. The Federal Jobs Act and the N.C. Intrastate Crowdfunding Exemptions have made investment crowdfunding legal in certain situations. The symposium will discuss the options available to new and small businesses, how to navigate the federal and state regulatory environments, and public policy.

“Investment crowdfunding is a hot topic all across the country, and many attorneys are just now beginning to look into the legal logistics for their clients,” said Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard. “I applaud the Campbell Law Review for advancing the discussion on this emerging issue.”

The symposium includes 6.5 hours of continuing legal education credit, and there is no cost to attend. Click here to register online.
